Saturday, September 26, 2020 Laboratory of Environmental Engineering Department

The Department of Environment, located at the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, has three laboratories for pollution, microbiology, and sample preparation (shared with the Fisheries Department). In these laboratories, practical classes of the courses presented in the department, dissertation experiments, and the dissertations and projects of doctoral, master, and Bachelor students are held. This laboratory has the following equipment:
Flame Photometer Device
The current flame photometer device is designed using high-quality electronic components and using the latest computer microprocessor with complete and intelligent planning for use in industrial laboratories and medical diagnosis for measuring sodium and potassium. The accuracy of system performance and test results are standard.
Rotary Evaporator Device
It is a device used in chemical, pharmaceutical and environmental experiments to effectively remove and evaporate solvents from samples. The rotary in the Laboratory of the Department of Environment is a combined rotary consisting of rotational motion and a distillation system.
Soxhlet Device
This laboratory device is usually used to separate fats from solids. The device has six channels with separate programs that can control the temperature in a short time. It also has a recycling and collection tank for ether and consumables, which recycles a large amount after each test.
Electric Laboratory Furnace
This furnace creates high temperatures up to about 1100 degrees Celsius or 1500 degrees Celsius, which is used to melt some materials and also to take the ashes of some other materials. Electric furnaces are used to get ashes from materials in laboratories.
Optical Microscope
The optical microscope is used for different magnifications to examine organisms and the structure of materials that cannot be examined with the unaided eye. The structure of the optical microscope includes the eyepiece and the lens of the object, the handle or body of the rotating plate, the microscope plate, the diaphragm, the light source, the plate clamps, the macrometer screw, the micrometer screw and the Base. Today, optical microscopes are used to look at biological specimens, cell tissue incisions, thin sections of rocks, soil and sand particles, polished surfaces of metals and ceramics, as well as pigments.
Incubator
It is a laboratory tool used in biological laboratories to cultivate and grow living specimens such as cells or microbes, and in biological laboratories to cultivate and grow plant seeds. By controlling humidity, temperature, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, the device provides the right conditions for the growth of living organisms and plant seeds. The incubator is one of the important tools in microbiological experiments, cell biology, etc.
Shaker
To mix the sample
Vortex
It is one of the most widely used devices in all laboratories for diagnosis, measurement, quantitative and qualitative control and research and it is due to the great importance of mixing and blending in different experiments. Laboratory shakers are used to mix, stir, and combine solutions and liquids, as well as to perform experiments. In fact, the laboratory shaker is an accelerator and catalyst in stimulating reactions at the molecular levels of substances. More recently, magnetic stirrers have been used in experiments to mix and combine liquids.
Water Bath
It is a device that is widely used in various laboratories, including laboratories in research, clinical, educational, food and wastewater centers. This device is also used to heat the reagents, digest the plants-soil and to absorb the samples. As a general rule, water is used in Water Bath; however, a small number of them also use oil.
Heater Stirrer
This device is mostly used for even heating along with the automatic mixing of the solutions inside the laboratory containers.
Oven
It is a device with a container with different volumes that is used to heat materials or dry wet materials up to 250 or 320 degrees Celsius.
Table Top (Benchtop) pH Meter
pH meter is an electronic device for measuring the pH of liquids and solutions. This device consists of two main parts: probe and meter. The pH probe converts the solution into an electrical signal, and the meter analyzes it and displays the pH level.
Ultrasonic Cleaner
Ultrasonic cleaning machine, also known as ultrasonic washing bath or laboratory cleaner, is used for scaling and washing all kinds of pieces. It ensures safe and complete cleaning, corrosion protection and cleaning of inaccessible areas.
Thermometer
It is a device that measures temperature based on different units.
Hood
Laboratory hood is one of the most basic and perhaps the most important equipment needed in all industrial centers and laboratories. It plays a very important role in providing and maintaining the health of the staff in the laboratory environment. The laboratory hood is a kind of vacuum or ventilator and transfers all the produced gases and pollutants out of the laboratory environment.
Digital Micro Scales
It is a device used to weigh objects with a very high accuracy. Laboratory digital scales usually have a weighing container plate that uses the container plate to prevent the effect of air on the weight of the material.
Desiccator
This device is used to keep chemicals that are sensitive to moisture, such as cobalt chloride, and to dry wet materials.
Soil Tissue Hydrometer
A hydrometer is a device that can determine the concentration of particles in liquids.
EC Meter
EC meter is a device used to measure the electrical conductivity of liquids. The shaft and portable types are designed to be suitable for outdoor use.
Ordinary Refrigerator
Used for keeping samples.
