Biology is the science of recognizing life and deals with the characteristics and behaviors of organisms, how species are formed and the types of organisms and the relationships they have with each other and their environment. However, in many cases, the term biology is quite synonymous with the term “Life Sciences”. However, in some cases, a wide range of biology that focuses on nature and the development of living organisms, their interaction with their environment, and the methods that lead to the longevity of living things, especially the highest kind, humans beings, are considered a concept for the Biological Sciences or Applied Biology. And, of course, it includes specialties such as Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Medicine and Pharmacy, Zoology and Marine Biology, Botany, Medicinal Plants and Environmental Sciences and Ecosystems, Wildlife and the Science of Classification, etc. In other words, the Biological Sciences are considered to include the sciences and research activities that biologists have done and will continue to do in order to improve and develop the living conditions of different societies with an emphasis on human societies. (Life Sciences is Bioscience that focuses on helping people).
The Biology Department started its work in 2010 by obtaining a license and accepting students. The department currently has 640 students in three undergraduate majors (Botany, Microbiology, and Biotechnology) and in a graduate major in Plant Physiology.
