With the rise of Islam and the particular attention of Islam to rationality, Islamic philosophy and theology grew among the Muslim thinkers. Islamic scholars, inspired by the teachings of Allah and taking advantage of the findings of past philosophers, developed what is now known as the Islamic Philosophy and Theology. As one of the oldest fields of humanities, the field of Islamic Philosophy and Theology is aimed to acquaint the young generation with the intellectual and philosophical heritage of Iran and Islam. It is, also, determined to spread the intellectual and philosophical beliefs in preparation for interdisciplinary researches.
The Department of Islamic Philosophy and Theology was established in 2010 and offers graduate programs.
