Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) in Mining Engineering
The ongoing B.Sc. course in “Mining Engineering” was introduced by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran (MSRT) for National and International students, which was established in 2013. This course comprises the fields of geosciences involving mainly the scientific study of general geology, economic geology, structural geology, geochemistry for mineral exploration, study of geophysical signals related to mineral deposits, mineral exploration targeting, and application of geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) for mineral exploration. The course covers the issues about mining and mineral exploitation as well. It will allow the students to study a spectrum of mineral exploration and mining topics specifically related to the discovery and evaluation of ore deposits. Currently, the department of Mining Engineering has 3 full-time faculty members (1 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors) who are working and researching in various fields of Mining Engineering.

Mission
The mission of the Mining Engineering course is to provide excellence in teaching and research, and then, apply the ensuing outcome to consult industries for better performance in real-work mineral exploration and exploitation. We accomplish this mission through a combination of academic courses and research activities. We intend to prepare students for their entry into the field of mineral exploration and mining industries. Thus, we prepare our students with the skills and knowledge thereof and support them in their future career development. To provide collaboration among our undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty guide and if possible, provide opportunities for students to apply their knowledge beyond the University.

Vision
Our vision is to be recognized as the national leader in research excellence, innovation and education related to mineral exploration, and mining fields.

General and specific competencies
Graduates of Bachelor’s degree program in the area of “Mineral Exploration” have capabilities mainly in:
  • The understanding of various mineral systems and ore-forming processes.
  • The conducting geochemistry for mineral exploration projects.
  • The application of mineral exploration targeting approaches.
  • The implementation of geophysics and computational analysis for mineral exploration.
  • The application of GIS and RS for geological studies especially for mineral exploration.
