Saturday 4/30/2011 Official Declaration of Malayer University on the Occasion of Persian Gulf National Day

“Persian Gulf”, a record of Iran’s glory and history is the name as broad as the whole history of human civilization. It has remained and will always remain the “Persian Gulf”. Linked with Persians, It is a name coming from the depth of history. According to the Greek traditions, the “Persian Gulf” is one of the four discovered seas which had all been divorced from a vast ocean equal to all World’s water.

Till 1960’s, there was no discussion regarding the name of “Persian Gulf” hence; all European, Asian and American references, all encyclopedias and geographical maps called it “Persian Gulf”. For the first time, a fake name was fabricated by Charles Belgrio with the purpose of creating a dispute between Iran and the Arab countries.

Throughout the history, the “Persian Gulf” has played its significant role in international and regional political issues. Numerous economical priorities and very important location of “Persian Gulf” from past to present, have persuaded imperialists to deliberately change the real name of “Persian Gulf”.

Existence of more than 300 historical books and thousands of related evidences from all travelers and historians, Muslim, Arab and European scholars are undeniable proofs of belonging the Iranian Southern gulf to the Persians.

“Persian Gulf” is a real and legal name and any alteration from anybody, organization and country is regarded and considered an international illegality.

We, as lecturers, students and staff members of Malayer University, celebrating the “Persian Gulf National Day” and anniversary of deporting Portuguese from Hormoz stripe, declare that “Persian Gulf” will remain “Persian Gulf” forever and the history testifies that truth will not be masked
